Birds In Your Backyard is all about enjoying the beauty and variety that can be seen by watching birds and other wildlife right in your own backyard. We set this site up as a way to document and share our bird and nature watching activities. In addition to reports of what we see we will also pass along information and resources that we come across to help you get the most from your bird and nature watching activities.
Who Are We
Our names are Mark and Pam. We live in the Atlanta, GA metro area and have a wooded yard that draws in all kinds of birds.
Over the years we have watched birds and other animals in our various yards and on trips but haven’t really paid attention to what it was that we were seeing. Since we moved to Atlanta a couple of years ago our interest has increased and we (me mostly
) decided it would be neat to share our experiences with others. I’m the “geek” of the two of us so I am having fun setting up and maintaining the site. Pam just mainly likes to watch the birds.
Thanks for visiting and we hope that you come back often to check in. Also, we would appreciate the opportunity to help you outfit your birdwatching adventures. We have partnered with Amazon.com and other fine online birdwatching stores which have a great selection of books, binoculars and other birdwatching equipment. You can visit our Birdwatching Store and get just about anything you need.

Happy Birding!

Hello Mark and Pam,
Mark I just saw your response today to Birdchick and your mention of Atlanta. Since I’m just a stone’s throw away in Gainesville I thought I’d say Hi. While today is chilly, I’m happy to live with it compared to what Sharon is going through right now. I’m from NY state originally…been there done that.
I’ve just now found your blog so I’ll check it out. I produce Birdwatch Radio, you might enjoy it.
That’s all. Stay warm and good birding to you.
Best,
Steve Moore
Hi Steve,
Glad you found our little blog! Neither Pam or I miss the cold that much. It was nice seeing snow on the ground and trees but driving in it or shoveling it we don’t miss at all.
We will definitely subscribe to your podcast and I’ll put a link to it on the site.
Thanks for visiting and maybe we can meet up sometime and you can show us all of the birds I know we’re missing because we can’t identify them! Take care.
I just found your web site today. I was just googling birds as I have enjoyed waatching them for years. I recently purchased a camera and have been trying my hand at bird pics for the last few weeks. That landed me here and I really enjoyed your photos. I was wondering is it possible for others to post photos here? Thanks Jerry- St. Louis, Mo.
Hi Jerry,
Sorry for the extra long delay in getting back to you. It sounds like you are about where we are as far as birding goes. It’s a fun passtime, isn’t it?
I’ll investigate if it’s possible to allow others to post pictures on the site. It would be neat to be able to host other birders photos. I’ll ask around and see what a practical solution might be. In the meantime I don’t see any problem with you posting links to photos at various photo hosting sites in the comments.
Thanks for reading and participating!
