Hi Paige!

Glad you found our site and hope you have fun poking around on it. Thanks for the compliments on the pictures. I'm by no means a professional but I have fun trying to get decent photos of the birds.

As far as feeders go, I wish our feeders lasted four days! We fill ours up every day and a half and that's with no squirrels helping! I'd suggest taking a look at the feeders offered by Wild Birds Unlimited (<a href="http://www.wbu.com/products/hardware.html" rel="nofollow">here's a link</a>). We got their "system" which is a pole with a squirrel baffle on it that keeps the squirrels away from the feeder. Make sure the feeder is far enough away from trees or bushes so the squirrels can't use them as launching pads to get on the feeder. We have two tube feeders, a platform feeder and a suet feeder on this one pole and the birds love it.

I came upon your website while I was looking up pictures of Eastern Towhees. You have great pictures. I homeschool my three boys and we have loved learning about birds the last two years. We read the Burgess Bird book last year and this year we are doing a more detailed study of winged creatures. Your website looks like a great resource for us. Thanks!

One question. Do you have any suggestions for a decent priced bird feeder that is squirrel proof? We have two feeders. One I filled up last week and in four days all the bird seed was gone. I have another that they have a harder time with, but would like to have a better one.

Thanks!

No screens on the window and no bears in our yard! The squirrels climb up the door by gripping the sliding door part and then jump over to the feeder. They are now knocking the feeder of the door so for now we don't have a window feeder :( We'll see if I can come up with a solution.

Oh...that little devil! Does your window have a screen? Our squirrels climb up the screens to get to our window feeders. But our most damaging culprits are the black bears! They not only eat the food, but they demolish the feeders and bend the poles 'til they snap! (I love seeing them though!)
